Why Petitions Are Required
Texas law requires independent candidates for Justice of the Peace to collect a set number of valid voter signatures in order to appear on the general election ballot.
Signing the petition does not mean you are voting for the candidate — it only allows the candidate’s name to appear on the ballot so voters may have a choice.
⸻
Who May Sign
To sign the petition, you must:
• Be registered to vote in Kinney County
• Not have voted in a party primary or runoff for this office during the current election cycle
• Sign in person on an official petition form
Only original, handwritten signatures on the official form may be counted.
⸻
What Signing Means
Signing the petition means:
• You are allowing an independent candidate to appear on the ballot
• You are not pledging your vote
• You are not joining any political party
It simply supports ballot access and voter choice.
⸻
Where & When to Sign
Petition signing locations, dates, and times will be posted on this page and shared by email as they are scheduled.
You may also request a petition signing by contacting the campaign directly.

If you are not yet registered, you must register before you can sign.
