Welcome

Welcome & thank you for being here,

My name is Phillip Gordon. I am a United States Marine Corps veteran, a resident of Fort Clark Springs, and the great-grandson of Sgt. Isaac Gordon of the Seminole Indian Scouts — an enslaved man who later became a Sergeant in U.S. Army service. My family’s history is deeply rooted in the early story of Kinney County.

I moved to Fort Clark Springs in October 2022 to return to my family’s ancestral lands and to dedicate myself to service, historical preservation, and community advocacy. Since then, I have been actively involved in local issues affecting water access, public safety, governance transparency, and community accountability.

I am running as an independent candidate for Justice of the Peace because our community deserves a court that is accessible, fair, and grounded in real service — not political insulation or automatic incumbency.

Justice of the Peace is the court closest to the people. It is where everyday life meets the law. My commitment is simple:

to serve every resident with consistency, dignity, and respect — regardless of background, income, or politics.

About me

I am a former United States Marine Corps non-commissioned officer who served aboard the USS Belleau Wood and participated in overseas operations including Desert Fox, Desert Thunder, and Foal Eagle. I earned the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for my service.

After my military service, I worked for over a decade in management, operations, security, and maintenance roles across multiple states, gaining real-world experience in leadership, budgeting, compliance, conflict resolution, and accountability.

In 2024, I served as Foreman of a Kinney County Grand Jury — a role that strengthened my understanding of how local systems affect real people and why transparency and proper process matter.

I am not a career politician. I am a community-rooted advocate who believes public office is a responsibility — not a personal entitlement.

Why I am Running

I am running for Justice of the Peace because Kinney County deserves:

• A court that is accessible and responsive

• Consistent, lawful application of justice

• Transparency in local government

• Respectful treatment of every resident

• Leadership grounded in service, not politics

Justice should be close to home.

Service should be personal.

Leadership should be accountable.
